The Intimate side of the Brand

Hey there! It’s Aniah the daughter of Indrea (eco of Quad Clothing Company) and I would like to share some of my experiences from my childhood of being a young model and the daughter of a designer.

Growing up being a child of a designer had its ups and downs. I was basically born into the industry! From constructing dresses, and doing parades, to photo shoots and fashion shows and events I would definitely say I know a lot about fashion.

Thinking back over the years I realized that my mother taught me a lot, and not just about fashion but about how to become an entrepreneur and run a business of my own.

One of my favorite parts about being a model for my mom was getting to wear all of the unique and beautiful dresses she made with hard work and dedication. Trying them on made me feel special and it was a perk knowing that she could always make us custom outfits if we wanted.

One year the night before Lake Charles Fashion Week my mother and I were preparing for the show ahead. We were planning who would wear a specific garment, how their hair and makeup would be, etc. Soon later my mom had fallen asleep and I continued to organize everything for the show. When she woke up everything was prepared and finished and she was so proud of me. That day I knew that I could be great at something no matter what it was.

During my years of modeling I enjoyed doing photoshoots the most. It was a gratifying way to express myself and I loved wearing the clothing my mom made for me.

Fashion shows were very fun to be in though I think my scene is backstage rather than front and center. I loved walking out and posing for the cameras but I believe that I am better at preparing and making sure everything is top notch backstage. I love helping run errands before the different shows start because it is always a busy time and work is always needed to be done!

After years of helping my mother in the fashion industry I finally burned out and decided that I didn’t want to model as much as I did before and that I wanted to venture out and try new things.

I now write blogs for my mother and for the company and I love being able to express my writing while also talking about fashion and common topics today!

At the end of the day I am so grateful that I was able to experience life in the fashion industry and there will always be the model I once was inside of me. The company is always casting models for upcoming shows and events. If your in the market for a great time and up to the challenge of learning all about the fashion industry, then QUAD is definitely the place to connect with. Instead of Resolutions try Affirmations

Each year we make New Years resolutions. We say “new year new me” when in reality we continue the same habits and continue doing the same things that we did last year. Some of us get a good start on our resolutions during the New Years but as weeks pass we forget about those resolutions and start to fall back into the same acts and behaviors from the previous year. Instead of resolutions we should make affirmations.

Resolutions aren’t normally kept but affirmations are things that can be said everyday.

Affirmations are positive statements that can help you to overcome self-sabotaging, negative thoughts. To use affirmations, one thing you can do is analyze the thoughts or behaviors that you’d like to change in your own life and career.

Affirmations is literally speaking things into existence. So instead of resolutions create affirmations and speak them into existence daily so that you can see great changes in your life and career. Making affirmations will benefit you for the better.

When making affirmations you are more likely to have long lasting affects because you are constantly speaking it into existence and reminding yourself of the goals that you want to achieve. When it comes to resolutions we tend to forget about them overtime and eventually stop doing them.

A quote from Paulo Coelho says that if you really think small, your world will be small. If you think big, your world will be big.

35 Positive Affirmations to Repeat for Success and Happiness

So take this as encouragement to think bigger and better and know that you have power to speak greatness into your life.

National Make up your Mind Day

Yesterday was National Make up your Mind Day.

We all strive to do good and be good. But striving for ‘good’ is no longer good enough, it is time to make up your mind to be great! When we leave this earth we should leave with no regrets! Pick up that bucket list that you have put away and accomplish it. Travel the world, try a new hobby, be successful in your career. I understand that times are hard but this is exactly why you should keep pushing to live the life that you have always wanted and know that you can do it with hard work.

Don’t let anyone else determine your greatness!

There will never be ‘a right time’, or a time and a place, there is only now because we aren’t guaranteed tomorrow. Get up and make it happen because no one can truly push you to do better and be better besides yourself, and remember keep to God first. If you have the mindset to do it then it will be done.

A remembrance of who Christ is

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life

John 3:16 is one of the most widely quoted verses from the Bible

We receive God’s free gift of eternal life through faith, by believing Jesus is who He says He is—the sinless Son of God who paid for the world’s sins—and did what He said He did—died in our place to grant us entrance into eternity with Him. But to receive that precious gift, we must acknowledge we need it. That’s hard because it pricks against our pride. We often take great satisfaction in our achievements and knowing we’ve progressed solely through our own merits. But the Holy Spirit helps us realize the futility of our efforts; we cannot earn grace, but we can accept it by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Christmas 2020 is today and we should remember the reason for the season. Christmas is the time we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with family and the ones we love. During this holiday sometimes we can lose sight of why it is celebrated. The presents, the decorations, the tree and Santa Claus is not the true meaning. Keep the lord in mind and remember that the holiday is about Christ, love, family and giving thanks unto the one who makes everything possible. Jesus….. thank him for being able to celebrate the day on which he was born .

Stay safe and have a Merry Christmas

Remember this is the season for Giving

Christmas is almost here and it is the season for giving! And by giving this does not necessarily mean giving gifts but giving up your time and love this year because that is what matters most.

Christmas is not always about the decorations, the trees, and the gifts. It is about spending time with your close friends and family and appreciate the time we have with one another.

I encourage you to stay at home this year and spend Christmas with a limited amount of members so that we can all prevent the spread of COVID-19 .

Here are a few tips on how to stay safe properly when gathering:

As cases, hospitalizations, and deaths continue to increase across the United States, the safest way to celebrate the winter holidays is to celebrate at home with people who live with you.

Gatherings with family and friends who do not live with you can increase the chances of getting or spreading COVID-19 or the flu.

  • Limit the number of attendees as much as possible to allow people from different households to remain at least 6 feet apart at all times. Guests should avoid direct contact.

  • Host outdoor rather than indoor gatherings as much as possible. Even outdoors, require guests to wear masks when not eating or drinking.

  • Avoid holding gatherings in crowded, poorly ventilated spaces with persons who are not in your household.

  • Require guests at you home to wear masks that covers both the mouth and nose, except when eating or drinking. It is also important to stay at least 6 feet away from people who are not in your household at all times.

  • Encourage attendees to wash their hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

  • Provide guests information about any COVID-19 safety guidelines and steps that will be in place at the gathering to prevent the spread of the virus.

  • Provide and/or encourage attendees to bring supplies to help everyone to stay healthy. These include extra masks (do not share or swap with others), hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol, and tissues. Stock bathrooms with enough hand soap and single use towels.

Now that you and guest are safe the fun can begin! Here are a few tips on Christmas Day activities that you can do with the family both virtually and in the home.

  • Share a board game or a virtual game that several people can play at one time. There is a fun Monopoly game on line that my kids enjoy. There is also good old fashion board games and card games such as Uno.
  • Do a zoom call and sing Christmas carols with other family members who are distant.
  • Do a drive by no contact gift giving. Then set a time for everyone to do a zoom call and open gifts and share.

If you just take the time to be creative you can come up with all sorts of fun things to do for the holidays!

Most of all, stay sanitized and stay safe this Holiday and remember that love and kindness is the best gift given and received!

Pearls take your look to the next level

The History of Pearls

Officially the world’s oldest gem, pearls have been revered since long before written history. For this reason, their discovery cannot be attributed to one person in particular, but it is believed that they were first discovered by people searching for food along the seashore.

The abundance of natural oyster beds in the Persian Gulf meant that pearls also carried great importance in Arab cultures, where legend stated that pearls were formed from dewdrops that were swallowed by oysters when they fell into the sea.

Pearls have been an important trade commodity since Roman times, and the discovery of pearls in Central and South America in the 15th and 16th century led to the so-called Pearl Age. With the escalating demand for pearls in Western Europe, where ladies of nobility and royalty wore elaborate pearl necklaces, earrings, pearl bracelets and brooches, by the 19th century, demand for pearl jewellery became so high that oyster supplies began to dwindle.

Unlike gemstones that are mined from the earth, a living organism produces a pearl. A pearl is formed when an irritant, such as a parasite or piece of shell, becomes accidentally lodged in an oyster’s soft inner body, causing it to secrete a crystalline substance called nacre, which builds up around the irritant in layers until a pearl is formed.

Today, natural pearls are among the rarest of gems and their almost entirely depleted supply means that they are found very infrequently only in the seas off Bahrain and Australia. The scarcity of natural pearls is reflected in the prices they fetch at auction, with antique pearl necklaces and earrings selling for record-breaking sums. Last year, a pair of natural pearl earrings set a new world record when they sold for US$3.3 million at Doyle New York.

How to enhance your look with Pearls

Jackie Kennedy was one of the major pearl icons who’s looks never failed to impress when matching a simple two piece suit with a set of beautiful pearls.

Jackie Kennedy’s style inspired an entire generation of women in terms of fashion. Her public appearances were always full of charisma and magnetism. There was allurement in her presence quite different from that of any other. A real style icon,  Jackie O. owned extremely simple, yet elegant trademarks. A symbol of the 1960s fashion, Jackie collaborated closely with fashion designer Oleg Cassini. As her influence grew, she started to develop a passion for Chanel jackets and A-line skirts by Dior. Her most famous signature piece is the triple strand pearl necklace.

Like Jackie you could combine pearls with a bright bold colors which can really make the pearls stand out yet perfectly compliment the ensemble.

Sleek, silky and elegant gowns can also pair great with a double strand white pearl necklace.

Here are also a few examples of how Jackie rocked her pearls and how pearls are worn compared to today’s high fashion.

As you can see, pearls worn different ways in today’s fashion such as on glasses and on the garments themselves. These are a few ways that you can accessorize with pearls in a new creative way or classically wear them around the neck like Jackie Kennedy did.

Off To A Great Holiday Season

Christmas is just around the corner and people are already setting up their trees and decorations for the holidays. Of course Christmas will be different this year because of the pandemic. Per day there can be up to 10,000 to 100,000 new COVID cases. Even though we all look forward to this holiday we should take proper precautions to make sure that everyone is safe. According to https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/daily-life-coping/holidays.html , the safest way to celebrate the holidays is to celebrate at home with the people you live with.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been stressful and isolating for many people. Gatherings during the upcoming holidays can be an opportunity to reconnect with family and friends. This holiday season, consider how your holiday plans can be modified to reduce the spread of COVID-19 to keep your friends, families, and communities healthy and safe.

Here are a few tips on how to say safe this holiday

  • Check the COVID-19 infection rates in areas where attendees live on state, local, territorial, or tribal health department websites. Based on the current status of the pandemic, consider if it is safe to hold or attend the gathering on the proposed date.
  • Limit the number of attendees as much as possible to allow people from different households to remain at least 6 feet apart at all times. Guests should avoid direct contact, including handshakes and hugs, with others not from their household.
  • Host outdoor rather than indoor gatherings as much as possible. Even outdoors, require guests to wear masks when not eating or drinking.
  • Avoid holding gatherings in crowded, poorly ventilated spaces with persons who are not in your household.
  • Require guests to wear masks. At gatherings that include persons of different households, everyone should always wear a mask, except when eating or drinking. It is also important to stay at least 6 feet away from people who are not in your household at all times.
  • Encourage attendees to wash their hands often.
  • Provide guests information about any COVID-19 safety guidelines and steps that will be in place at the gathering to prevent the spread of the virus.
  • Provide and/or encourage attendees to bring supplies to help everyone to stay healthy. These include extra masks, hand sanitizer and tissues.
  • Limit contact with commonly touched surfaces or shared items, such as serving utensils.
  • Clean and disinfect commonly touched surfaces and any shared items between use when feasible.
  • Plan ahead and ask guests to avoid contact with people outside of their households for 14 days before the gathering.

These are a few ways you can stay safe when gathering for family events. In spite of this we also encourage you to shop online this year instead of going out to stores were it will be crowded with ongoing shoppers trying to purchase gifts for their loved ones. This is also a perfect opportunity to spend time with your family and friends within your household instead of purchasing large amounts of gifts. This year take time to really engage with the community and give back rather than receiving.

In conclusion I suggest that you take some of these tips into account when celebrating Christmas this year!
